Measurably more effective creative
I am a Penteller.
In pixels and ink I create work that helps brands and organisations tell a better story.
Creativity is still “the most powerful and 'probably the last unfair advantage we're legally allowed to take over our competitors”*.
Strip away the media and the channels and I believe that getting results in terms of engagement and making money is what matters to brands and organisations.
I’ve very recently created work that saw the agency I was working see themselves as the youngest ever to receive a coveted IPA Effectiveness Award.
What has always been important to me are ideas. The media or the channels, are merely ‘the rails that the idea runs upon’. The rails change over time, but when all is said and done, people engage with, talk about and share ideas that connect to them. And they reward brands that do this for them, by choosing their product or service over others.
I am totally free and open to non-proprietary ways of helping brands find the best performing solutions. One my solutions might very well be to work alongside a brand’s in house team. It makes sense to, as who would know your business better than the people who work there? In a collaborative relationship we can help them unlock levels of creativity and coach the brand to truly sing from the centre outwards.
I am Andy McLane. If you saw me in the street you might not realise it but I am a highly experienced and strategically minded creative director /strategist and strategist, who has a long history of getting results and awards for clients in every media. Working with a loose hand picked network of creative makers and shakers, I have the unique freedom and perspective to select the right message and match it to the most effective media.
No, more a free agent. I do work with agencies, but love working directly with brands, preferably in house. It gets us all to better work, quicker.
No, I’ve worked in pretty much every sector but prefer to not touch gambling and tobacco.
I love transforming categories that were hitherto seen as creatively unpromising. If it’s a good business it has creative promise. Every brand has a story to unlock. If you work with me hold your breath, expect attention, results and awards.
I am fluent in pixels and ink, and loyal to no media. I’m on the side of people and believe brands want to be better at connecting with their customers.
So what's with the strange name?
I always carry a Pentel Sign Pen. They were invented in 1968 by Yukiop Horei, and though I’ve been lucky enough to get my hands on Mont Blancs and Parkers, for me, the Pentel is the ultimate way of capturing a brief and turning it into an idea. Set up a meeting with me and I will bring you a Pentel Sign Pen - for free - yours to become a Penteller yourself.
Over the years a growing list of brands and organisations have felt the benefit of my felt tip.
I work with a variety of organisations - I can be white labeled, transparently or directly.
If you put the customer first and apply the appropriate technology and media to making their life better, the results will come.
Andy McLane,
Penteller
